In Nice, there is a formidable promendade down the center of Vieux Nice, and six days a week it's a hip and happening veggie and flower market. (And do they rest on the 7th day? No, it gets replaced by the Marché des Puces, chock full of vintage bargains). There'll be lunch, bien sûr, at a brasserie along the promendade. We're vistiting this week, Allons-y.
Favorite Reads: Loyal Reader Sue Wallace recommends George East's books, which are memoirs of a Brit's life in the Normandy countryside. Sue finds his 'quirkly lifestyle' charming and funny. I can't wait to try his books: French Cricket (Mill of the Flea) and French Kisses
.
I've mentioned France Magazine to you many times (I'm a contributor) but there is one more anglo magazine for francophiles that you will love, called, simply, France. Don't miss either if you want to keep up with all things French.
In the COMMENTS: RE my secret granola bar ingredient, Frank is a Wheetabix specialist of sorts. Frank, could there be a Wheetabix cookbook in your future? To Kiki, a watercolor artist (Snefnug Studio) newly living in France, MERCI for nominating Southern Fried French for the Saveur Magazine "Best Cooking Blogs of 2012 Awards". I'm honored! (voting comes later, if I make the semi-finals). Kiki, we look forward to seeing your new paintings from France.
Our Reader's Blogs: Here's something fun: if you like my photos on this blog, you'll find some of them painted in oil by fine artist Barbara Andolsek, one of our readers. She's also done several from Kristin's French Word A Day blog.
Coming to Burgundy? Our friends Pete and Dee have the best little B&B around, as well as a separate gite with 2 bedrooms, terrace and pool. There's a garden, and a view that will knock your chausettes off. See it at Les 4 Cheminées.

Oh I love it! How beautiful. I fell in love with the Provencal markets this fall when I was visiting the area.
A market seven days a week? How marvelous!
If you LOVE Southern Friend French, nominate it in up to 3 categories at Savear.com and look for 2012 Best Blog Awards. Let’s get Lynn nominated!!!!
Hi Kiki,
You are one enthusiastic fan, merci! As I understand it, you only have to be nominated once. Then they choose the semi-finalist; then comes the voting, at which point I’ll need your help!
Kiki, following your lead… We love Lynn!
May I place my order svp? … for lunch, flowers, fruits and lavendar soaps that is! Enjoy Lynn. Can hardly wait to return myself. Soon…

I Am going to visit one day !!! Si pretty !
Let the season begin! Beautiful.
I love those labels tags they stick into the pots. I want to find some to take home this summer. I hadn’t thought of a Wheatabix cookbook. What a great idea. I will have to do some work since I only have three recipes at present. Maybe I should get a case of the stuff and start using it every chance I get. I am already thinking of it in meatloaf. Thanks for the concept Lynn. May I try the recipes on my fellow readers? Tempura Wheatabix? Wheatabix Melba?
Wheeeee!
Lynn,Thanks for bringing a bit of the French Countryside to Cincinnati. The images are stunning and the vegetables look like I could pluck them right off the screen. Hope all is well. Ellen
